NEIGHBORHOOD NAMES NORTH

PAGE MOIR, CAROLYN WEAVER and JANICE WEEKS have received Roanoke College's Distinguished Service Award. The award, founded eight years ago, recognizes the accomplishments of members of the college's staff.

Moir has been with the college's basketball coaching staff for seven years and has led Roanoke to more than 137 wins.

Weaver has been a member of the dining service staff since 1984.

Weeks, secretary for the foreign language and English departments, has worked for the college for 10 years.

ROANOKE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES has elected officers for 1997. They are: Sidney F. Robertson, president; Kenneth L. Harper, operations officer and board member; Craig D. McCown, captain and board member; Carla D. Spencer, recruitment and retention officer and board member; David C. Anderson, treasurer and board member; Darrell Van-Ness, training officer; and Cory Zimmerman, secretary.

Lisha Osborne, Mike Custer and Lewis W. Perry were also elected to the board of directors.

THE RESCUE MISSION recently elected two new members, Larry Lilly and Betty S. Stanley, to its board of directors.

Scott Berglund and Susan Simmons were elected to the Rescue Mission's Lifeline Foundation Board.

The Auxiliary Board of the Rescue Mission also elected new officers: Janice Hale, president; Susan Honeycutt, vice president; and Betty Robison, secretary.

JASON M. GILMORE and MIKE GILMORE of Vinton recently were elected officers of the Virginia-Maryland Edsel Club.

Jason Gilmore was elected president and serves as international editor of the Edsel Owners Club's publication "Green Line."

Mike Gilmore was re-elected treasurer.

UNITED WAY OF ROANOKE VALLEY recently announced new board members and officers for 1997.

The new board members are: Garnett Smith, John Fermelia, John Pecarec, Dale Hemberger, David Randolph, James Garlow, James Sears, John Stroud, John Mcleod, John Coates, Beth Cullum, Alexander Boone, Charles Salderini and Richard Zacharias.

The new officers are: Heidi Krisch, chairwoman; Danielle Yarber, vice chairwoman; Robert Lee, campaign chairman; Jack Resnick, administrative chairman; Jan Wilkins, marketing chairwoman; Donnovan Young, community development chairman; Deanna Gordon, planning chairwoman; James Ritchie, treasurer, and Robert Lawson, Jr., immediate past chairman.

The new members of the executive committee are: William Downey, Douglas Waters, James Hinson, H. Clarke Curtis and John Heitz.

BLUE RIDGE COMMUNITY SERVICES has elected new officers for 1997: Susan J. Cloeter, chairman; Rita N. Foster, vice chairman; Pamela K. Cox, secretary; and Rodney P. Furr, treasurer.
