DRIVER FACES GRAND JURY AFTER WRECK KILLS 2

Prosecutors will ask a grand jury to indict a driver on two charges of involuntary manslaughter and one charge of felony hit-and-run driving after a car crash killed two people, authorities said Thursday.

Prince William County police spokeswoman Kim Chinn identified the driver only as a Fredericksburg man, about 40 years old.

Chinn said the suspect was attempting to pass a slower vehicle on a two-lane stretch of Virginia 28 in Prince William County when he crossed a double yellow line.

The action forced a southbound Buick onto the shoulder, police said. Witnesses reported the Buick driver overcompensated when he steered back to the highway. The car crossed the center line and struck a Nissan Sentra, killing a passenger in the Buick and the driver of the Nissan.

Chinn said the sedan driver fled after the accident, but another motorist followed him to a parking lot in Manassas, where she told him he had caused a wreck.

``He knows he caused the accident,'' Chinn said.
