A Bedford man was in stable condition Friday afternoon at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after being shot in the face Thursday night.
Police said James L. Coates, 24, was shot during an outdoor argument with a neighbor at the Bedford apartment complex where they live. He was taken to Carilion Bedford Memorial Hospital, where he was stabilized, and then to Roanoke Memorial.
Police arrested Samuel Lee Jones, 34, of Bedford and charged him with aggravated malicious wounding and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is in the Bedford jail under a $20,000 bond.
Police also found a bullet inside a nearby apartment.
