BARKER, Ray Estill, 80, of Marion, died Thursday, February 27, 1997. Funeral 1 p.m. Sunday, Seaver-Brown Chapel.

BREWER, Tinia Louise, 95, of Abingdon, died Friday, February 28, 1997, in a local nursing home. She was a native of Smyth County and was the widow of the Rev. Berl H. Brewer, who was a former pastor at First Christian Church in Wytheville. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Grace Jones, Abingdon; four nieces, Carole Colley, Abingdon, Bernice Dunn and Mary Lou Fontenot, both of Bristol, June Nottingham,. Kingsport, Tenn.; two nephews, Oliver Talbert and Randolph Talbert, both of Saltville. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the West End Cemetery in Wytheville with the Rev. Robert Tolar Jr. officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 20290 Wood Howell Rd., Bristol, Va. 24202. Farris Funeral Service is serving the family of Mrs. Brewer.

CABANISS, Jack, 91, of Vinton, passed away Friday, February 28, 1997. He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta M. Cabaniss and a son, Homer Guy Cabaniss. He was a member of the Waverly Place Baptist Church and was retired from the American Viscose Company. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin E. and Dot Cabaniss, Winston Salem, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce C. and David Carter, Montvale; daughter-in-law, Norma Cabaniss, Moneta; fiv e grandchidren; five great-grandchildren. CARTER, Wendell Ray, 72, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, February 28, 1997. He is survived by his sister, Christine C. Mitchell; nephew, Gary Mitchell; nieces, Lynn Dorough and Leigh Carter; sister-in-law, Betty Carter. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 1997 at Sherwood Memorial Park with The Rev. Michael Barnes officiating. CUNDIFF, Dorothy Arrington, 77, of Wirtz, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 27, 1997. She was born October 5, 1919, a daughter of the late Willie Joseph and Minnie Katherine Bates Arrington, and was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny B. Cundiff Sr. and her son, Johnny B. Cundiff Jr. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lorenzo and Julia Arrington, Vernon and Mildred Arrington, Thomas Arrington; and a sister, Ruth Blankenship. She was a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley C. and Junior Wray, Wirtz, Nancy C. Veibell, Salt Lake City, Utah; one son and two daughters-in-law, Bruce and Penny Cundiff, Boones Mill, Libby T. Cundiff, Wirtz; one sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Luther Loudermilk, Rocky Mount; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave and Pearl Arrington, Sebring, Fla., Marvin and Evelyn Arrington, Rocky Mount, O.J. and Pat Arrington, Martinsville, Bill and Joyce Arrington, Rocky Mount; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren; special niece, Barbara and Lee Kidman, Vinton. She will be missed dearly by her loved ones and many friends. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Flora Funeral Chapel with Dr. Joe Bryant officiating. EDMONSON, Mary Baker, 79, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday, February 27, 1997. JONES, Harold R., (``Mike,"" Lt. Col., U.S. Army, ret.), 83, of Roanoke, died Friday, February 28, 1997. Arrangements by Lotz Roanoke Chapel.

LONG, Betty Elizabeth Stewart, 59, of 256 Kelly Rd., Union, S.C., widow of Claude Long Sr., died Thursday, February 27, 1997, at 1:26 p.m. in Wallace Thomson Hospital after a sudden illness. Mrs. Long was born in Old Ellenton, S.C. on December 1, 1937, a daughter of the late Tommy and Kathrine Ann Ethridge Stewart. She was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. Mrs. Long was a graduate of Old Ellenton High School and was self-employed as a beautician. Surviving are a daughter, Amanda Long Weaver of Union; a stepdaughter, Claudia Long Kelly of Union; two sons, Jimmy Peters of Smoaks, S.C. and Dale Peters of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Minnie Edwins of St. Helena Island, S.C., Lena Ulmer of Cummings, S.C., Mary S. Valentine of Roanoke, Va., and Barbara Ann Burton of Columbia, S.C.; a number of grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and a close friend, Fred Small of Union. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Fairforest Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Inman. The body will remain at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The family is at the home, 256 Kelly Rd., Union. The S. R. MARTIN, Timothy Dwayne, (``Buck""), 23, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 27, 1997, as a result of a automobile accident. Timmy was a wonderful loving and giving young man who always worked hard to do the right thing for everyone he had contact with. Everyone who knew Timmy loved him. He was a 1992 graduate from Salem High School and was employed by W.B. Clements Inc. and Coach B's Sports Bar and Grill. He will be very sadly missed by his father and stepmother, Howard W. and Brenda K. Martin; mother and stepfather, Pamela and Michael Poe; sister, Kristi M. Underwood; niece, Kayla Underwood; very special friend, Andy Wimmer; stepbrothers, Paul and Eric Kennedy and Jeremy and Jason Poe; special love and friend, Michele Brown. He is also survived by his grandmother, Helen Virginia Guthrie; stepgrandparents, Nannie and Horace Kiser, Margie and Herman Flinchum, Bill and Fran Poe. MEADOR, Willie Edward, Jr., 71, a long time resident of Vinton, passed away Thursday, February 27, 1997. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army and was retired Owner/Operator of Vinton Welding. Survivors include his wife, Aileen McCarty Meador; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy M. and Michael Tuemler, Kingsport, Tenn.; one son, Michael E. Meador, at home; one brother, Shirley T. Meador, Vinton; two sisters, Cora B. Saunders and June M. Wilkes, both of Vinton; two granddaughters, Megan N. Tuemler and Tiffany L Tuemler. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 1997 from the Lotz Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Robert Wayne and the Rev. Dr. Ray Allen will officiate. MILLER, Cecile Jonas, 97, of Salem, passed away Thursday, February 27, 1997. Mrs. Miller was a member of West End Presbyterian Church and was a retired employee of Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leicester A. Miller; and her son, Donald A. Miller. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Anne Miller, Gladstone, Va. and Yakima, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Beverley Miller, Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Deborah Hayes, Los Angeles, Calif., Ashley Miller, Yakima, Wash., Anne Russell Miller, Newark, Calif.; five great-grandchildren. PALMER, Barbara Ann Toms, 66, of Huddleston, died Thursday, February 27, 1997. She was born in Alexandria on February 8, 1931, a daughter of Eunice Naomi Roberts Toms of Alexandria, and the late Ernest Hamilton Toms. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Command Sergeant Major G. B. ``Buck'' Palmer, Huddleston; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Brenner, Austin, Texas; a stepson, John Richard Palmer, Dallas, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Lyndall R. and Richard T. Clayton of Sterling; an uncle, Arnold Toms, Alexandria. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 1997, at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Thomas E. Jackson officiating. REYNOLDS, Albert Sidney, 69, of Lexington, died Thursday, February 27, 1997, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington. Mr. Reynolds was born in Rockbridge County on October 30, 1927, and was a son of the late Charles Andrew Reynolds and Grace Hickman Reynolds. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church of Alexandria, and a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge. He was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Reynolds, and one sister, Vernie Marie Beard. Mr. Reynolds is survived by his former wife, Agnes Hostetter Reynolds of Lexington; one daughter, Donna Hardy of Dumfries; two sons, Richard Reynolds of Bath County and John Reynolds of Staunton; four brothers, Elmer Reynolds of Natural Bridge, Charlie Reynolds of Buena Vista, Roy Reynolds of Chester and Calvin Reynolds of Lexington; three sisters, Nellie Akers of Evington, Mary Morgan of Clifton Forge and Bessie Buchanan of Fishersville; three grandchildren, Sheila Renee Hardy and Robert Joseph Hardy III of Dumfries and Nicole Elizabeth Reynolds of Durham, N.C.; a special friend, Pearl Lipscomb, and a number of nieces and nephews. ROBINSON, F. Byron, 88, of Blacksburg, died on Thursday, February 27, 1997, at Columbia-Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born on February 7, 1909, the son of Frank and Lena Griffith Robinson of West Point, Miss. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth, on December 9, 1995. He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Jerald and Anne Robinson, Blacksburg; grandson and wife, Jerald Jr. and Amanda, Roanoke; sister, Pauline Jones, Forest City, Ark.
