Four people died in a pair of weekend wrecks in Goochland County west of Richmond, police said.
Two people were fatally injured Saturday night when a Tennessee woman driving the wrong way on fog-shrouded Interstate 64 hit a car head-on, state police said.
Early Sunday, a Louisa County man and woman were killed when their car ran through a stop sign and crashed into a barrier.
In the Saturday wreck, Cynthia L. Duncan, 45, of Cordova, Tenn., was eastbound in a westbound lane of I-64 about 35 miles east of Charlottesville when the accident occurred about 9:40 p.m., state police said. The woman's car hit one driven by Marc C. Bielke, 40, of Reedville. Bielke and a passenger in his car, Katherine Riggins, 36, of Gordonsville, were taken to Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, where they died.
Duncan, who was treated at Columbia Henrico Doctors' Hospital and released, was charged with reckless driving.
The victims in Sunday's wreck were identified as Franklin A. Childress, 58, and Julie Childress, 53. Police said Childress ran through a stop sign on Virginia 676.
