FIRE GUTS HOME IN MONTGOMERY

No one was injured in a fire Monday morning that gutted a home on Mount Pleasant Drive.

The Elliston Fire Department responded to the call at 295 Mount Pleasant Drive at about 10 a.m.

2nd Lt. Baron Gibson said the apparent cause of the blaze was a flue fire that spread to the one-story home's attic.

Fire Chief M.L. Wells said the home belonged to Thurman and Helen Reed.

The Christiansburg Fire Department assisted at the fire as did the Shawsville Rescue Squad. Fire crews spent about four hours at the fire, Gibson said.
