WRECK VICTIM WAS MACHINIST

The Roanoke man who died Tuesday in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 81 near the Ironto exit was a machinist who loved tinkering with old motorcycles in his spare time.

Mark Steven Landau, 43, was a longtime employee of Valley Machine and Maintenance Co. in Roanoke, his wife, Annette Landau, said. He was returning from business in Blacksburg when he wrecked.

He attended Virginia Western Community College and Virginia Tech, according to his wife.

Landau loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and built or restored several older models during his life, Annette Landau said.

"He was a truly wonderful person ... fun, smart," she said.
