Town police arrested four men from out of town on charges of malicious wounding by mob and grand larceny after the group allegedly stopped a pizza delivery man last month in College Park, a local apartment complex, beat him and took an estimated $1,600 in cash and personal items, police said.
The victim, a 31-year-old delivery driver, was treated and released from Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital on Jan. 25 for multiple facial injuries, bruises and abrasions, according to police.
Police arrested Duane D. Brown, 19, Braxton H. Bernard Mullen, 21, and Christopher D. Lee, 18, all of Woodbridge. Each was charged on one count of grand larceny and malicious wounding by mob. Also arrested was Brian H. Landgrover, 21, of Baltimore on one count of malicious wounding by mob.
Lt. Bruce Bradbery said officers responded to a call about 1:30 a.m. concerning a fight. The investigation revealed that a man - later identified as Mullen - stepped in front of the pizza delivery car, while Lee approached the car and poured beer on the driver's head through the car's sunroof.
The driver told police he got out of his car to flee and was attacked by the group that beat him, knocked him to the ground and kicked him. Part of the group then entered the man's car and took pizzas, jewelry, a wallet, credit cards, cash and other items valued at about $1,600, Bradbery said.
