ADAMS, Dr. E. K., (``King""), 73, of Roanoke, died in a Roanoke hospital Friday night, March 7, 1997. He was an Elder at Green Ridge Presbyterian Church, and served in the Navy Air Force during World War II. He was a 1950 graduate of VPI, a 1957 graduate of M.C.V. School of Dentistry, and practiced dentistry in the Williamson Road area for 32 years. He was a member of the Roanoke Valley Dental Society, and a member of the Troutville (Boone) Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Betty Nichols Adams of Roanoke; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David Kincaid Adams and Darlene Adams of Salem and James Meade Adams of Roanoke; daughter, Anne Elizabeth Adams of Buchanan; sister, Gladys Link of Old Lyme, Conn., and one granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Adams. Funeral services will be conducted at Green Ridge Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday, by the Rev. Harry Christie. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that memorials be made to Green Ridge Presbyterian Church, 7640 Alpine Road, N.W., Roanoke, Va. 24019. ALLEY, Elbert Earl, 70, of Troutville, died Friday, March 7, 1997. He was a resident of Cave Creek Home for Adults. Mr. Alley served his country while in the Army Co. L. 350 1st Infantry Division where he received the following accommodations, The Good Conduct Medal, European Africian Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, WWII Victory Ribbon, Army of Occupation Metal (German) he was preceded in death by his father, Richard C. Alley, mother Gathie E. Alley, brother, M. Melburn Alley, brother-in-law, Howard J. Graham. He is survived by his sisters, Renie E. Hunt, Betty Pearl Graham, nieces and nephews, Enola Gay Gardner, Larry A. Hunt, Lance O. Hunt, Paul J. Graham and Freida H. Hubbard. Funeral services will be held at graveside Monday, March 10, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Burial Park with the Rev. E. D. Clemmons officiating. DALTON, Martha Marie Broyles, 78, of Pulaski, passed away Friday afternoon, March 7, 1997 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. Born November 29, 1918 in Oakvale, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Millard Edward Broyles and Sallie Jane Pendleton Broyles. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward ``Ed"" Dalton; a sister, Cleo Broyles; and three brothers, Bernard Broyles, Frank Broyles and Clatyon Broyles. She was a member of the Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pulaski. ELLIS, Margaret Joh nston, 84, of Marion, died Saturday, March 8, 1997 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph E. Ellis. Mrs. Ellis graduated from Marion High School and attended Marion Junior College. She was a member of the Royal Oak Presbyterian Church, the Holston Hills Country Club and a past president of the Marion Junior Woman's Club. Survivors include two daugthers, Peggy Jo E. Gill, Carlisle, Mass., Annette E. Osborne, Bluefield, Va.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Osborne Hickey, Wright Patterson Afb, Ohio, Curtis Hall Osborne, Richmond, Lynette Osborne Chambers, Raleigh, N.C., William Love Osborne III, Youngsville, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, John Robert Hickey Jr., Julian Rose Hickey, William Chase Chambers. FOUTZ, Jacqueline Kent, (``Jackie''), 61, of Roanoke County, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 8, 1997. She was the daughter of Louise R. Kent and the late Joe T. Kent, formerly of Welch, W. Va. Surviving is her husband, Donald L. Foutz of Roanoke; two daughters, Tracy L. Hunt and husband Mike of Roanoke, Molly F. Roland and husband Gene of Richmond; also three granddaughters, Robyn and Erin Ferland and Samantha Jo Hunt. Jackie was a graduate of Lynchburg College and taught school in Bedford County before returning to Roanoke to teach in Roanoke County as a substitute teacher at Back Creek and Bent Mountain Elementary Schools for over 25 years. She was a faithful member of Windsor Hills Baptist Church for 31 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher, President of Baptist Women and pianist for Children's Sunday School. Jackie will be remembered for her love of the Lord and her radiant smile. It will be said of her that ``She fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith. Now there is in store for her the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to her on that day--not only to her but also to all who have longed for His appearing.'' II Tim. 4:7-8. The funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, March 12, 1997 at 11 a.m. from Windsor Hills Baptist Church, Grandin Road Extension by the Rev. C. Lawrence Dodson and the Rev. Ron Sutherland. Interment at Fort Hill Cemetery, Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, at 3 p.m. Wednesday. JARVIS, Donald Judson, 60, of Roanoke, passed on Thursday, March 6, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn L. Jarvis of Roanoke; three sons, Donald K. (Elaine) Jarvis and Alex C. (Barbara) Jarvis, both of New York, and Michael L. Jarvis of Florida; two grandchildren, Wi lliam A. and Ashley S. Jarvis, both of New York; his stepmother, Mary Elizabeth Bolden of Roanoke; four brothers, Phillip (Lois) Bolden, James (Orris) Bolden and David Bolden, all of Roanoke, and Samuel (Myra) Bolden of Florida, and two sisters, Barbara Jarvis Washington and Lorraine (Ray) Lipscomb, all of Roanoke. JORDAN, Augustus W., (``June""), 71, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, March 6, 1997. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Basham. Survivors include his mother, Christina R. Coleman of Salem; three brothers, Rudolph, David and George Jordan of Roan oke; one sister, Ruby Coleman of Minneapolis, Minn.; four daughters, Donna M. Miller, Salem, Betty P. McALLISTER, William Clinton, (``Bill""), 87, died Friday, March 7, 1997, at his home in Saltville. Mr. McAllister retired from the Olin Corporation, was a life-long farmer and was a member of Mount Pleasant Union Church. MERIX, Joseph Edward, (``Joey""), 37, of Ripplemead, died Saturday morning, March 8, 1997. Born in Pearisburg on August 14, 1959, he was a son of John Edward and Martha Meadows Merix, also of Ripplemead. He attended Eatons Chapel United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by a brother, Todd Merix. Surviving are his wife, Belinda Collins Merix; his parents; a brother and his wife, Greg and Teresa Merix of Radford; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tina and Mitchell Saunders, and Melissa and Curtis Gadd, all of Staffordsville; his paternal grandmother, Sally Merix of Ripplemead; five nephews, and one niece. PETERS, Helen Cochran, 85, of 3968 Mountain View Circle, Lenoir, N.C., 28645, died Friday, March 7, 1997, at Caldwell County Hospice. She was born in Roanoke, Va., on December 29, 1911, a daughter of the late Rev. A. J. Cochran Sr. and Mattie Lewis Going Cochran. She and her husband, the late Alva K. Peters, owned and operated Peters Canning Company, and she retired as a baker from Olsen Junior High School in Dania, Fla. She was a member of Dania Heights Baptist Church, and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #150, of Hollywood, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, 1997, at Ambassador Baptist Church in Lenoir, with the Rev. Robert Setzer officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, in Fairview Cemetery in Roanoke, with the Rev. Waitsel Beard officiating. PORTER, Lillian M., 84, a resident of Showalter Retirement Center, Blacksburg, formerly of Vinton, passed away Thursday, March 6, 1997. She was born September 1, 1912 in Vinton a daughter of the late W. R. and Mary Elizabeth Hayden Porter. She was a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church and a retired employee of the Rowe Furniture Company Payroll Department . Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin R. and Ethel Porter, Christiansburg; nephew and his wife, Ed and Emilie Broome, Christiansburg. PRILLAMAN, Garnell Shifflett, of Williamsburg, died Thursday, February 27, 1997, in Williamsburg. She was born and raised in Roanoke, and had lived in Williamsburg since 1968. A memorial service was held in Williamsburg on March 1, 1997.

QUINN, Harry Carlile Jr., 72, of Concord, died Friday, March 7, 1997, in Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Nelson County, he was the son of the late Harry Carlile Quinn Sr. and Elsie Spencer Quinn Callaway. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Cloepfil. Mr. Quinn received his B.S. degree in Psychology from V.P.I. in 1950 and did graduate work there. He taught psychology at Central Virginia Community from 1967 to 1977 when he retired. He attended the Baptist church and was a member of Williamson Road Masonic Lodge #163. He served his country in the third Marine Division during World War II. He is survived by one niece, Carol Clement-Connor of Olathe, Kan.; three nephews, Quinn K. Cloepfil of Shawnee, Kan., Eric L. Cloepfil of Lanexa, Kan., and Kevin C. Cloepfil of Simi Valley, Calif.; his devoted friends and companions, Jennifer Parker McCune of Concord and Nancy Parker of Amherst County; one great-niece; one great-nephew, and one great-great-niece. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel in Lynchburg by the Rev. Bart Weakley. The Williamson Road Masonic Lodge #163 will conclude the service in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. SUMNER, Frank Darwin, 88, of Roanoke, formerly of Floyd, died Friday, March 7, 1997 in Friendship Manor Health Care Center. He is survived by his wife, Neva Argabright Walton Sumner; several nieces and one nephew. He was a long time member of North Roanoke Baptist Church. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, 13th Airborne Division, Glider Troop. He was a retired steam fitter, loc al 491, also retired from the VA Medical Center. He was a member of VFW Post 484, DAV H.H. Survivors include one daughter, Catheryn Coleman; two granddaughters, Linda C. (Thornton) Younger and Sylvia C. (Donald) Poindexter both of Roanoke; one sister, Lillian Coleman of Lynchburg; brother-in-law, James ``Pete"" Davis of Roanoke; four great-grandchildren, Antoinette ``Toni"" (Kenneth) Hughes of Hampton, Joshua F. ``JC"" Casey, Gary ``Terrell"" Casey and Harold Childress all of Roanoke; three great-great-grandchildren; a devoted friend, Bernice Jordon; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 1997 at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. J.A. Keaton officiating. Interment will follow at the Central Baptist Cemetery in Bedford County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral hour at the church. Friends may call at Serenity Funeral Home Sunday, March 9, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The body will be taken to the church Tuesday at 10 a.m. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home, 126 Gilmer Ave., N.W.

WOLFF, Fred George, 73, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, March 5, 1997. No funeral services will be scheduled. Arrangements by John M. Oakey and Son, Salem.
