CELEBRATIONS - WEDDINGS

Bohannon-Hopkins

Tracy Lynn Hopkins and Jerry Wayne Bohannon were married January 17, 1997, at Waverly Place Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Hoffler officiating. The bride is the daughter of Gladys Parrish Hopkins and Gary L. Hopkins. She is employed by Halmode Apparel, Inc. The groom is the son of Ruth Bohannon. He is employed by Magic City Ford. The couple will make their home in Roanoke.

Breeden-Walton

Dana Marie Walton and John Lee Breeden were married on March 8, 1997 at Bible Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia. The ceremony took place at 2 p.m. with Rev. Olander ``Red'' English officiating. A reception followed at the church.

The maid of honor was Lindsay Miller, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Christy Flowers, Dana Horton and Lana Horton, all friends of the bride. The flower girl was Meredyth Saunders, friend of the groom.

The best man was Jimmy Saunders, Jr., friend of the groom. The ushers were Tommy Walton, brother of the bride; Curtis Shell and Darrell Underwood, friends of the groom.

The wedding was directed by Carol Reed and Ruth Lynch. The music was provided by Mable Elmore, all of Roanoke. The guest book was attended by Laura Langley of Gilbert, S.C.

The bride is the daughter of Thomas E. and Diane Walton of Roanoke, a graduate of William Byrd High School, and employed by Drug Emporium.

The groom is the son of Jessie and Vera Breeden of Richmond, a graduate of Clover Hill High School, and employed by Revcar Fasteners.

After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach the couple will reside in Vinton, Virginia.

Browder-Wymer

Jennifer Lynn Wymer and Charles Linwood Browder III were married March 1, 1997 at London Bridge Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, Va., with Rev. Howard Douthit III officiating, assisted by Rev. Brian Mentzer. The reception was held at the Clarion Hotel, Virginia Beach, Va.

Leigh Beard, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Lisa Browder and Terry Hutton, sisters of the groom, Ramona Douthit, Michelle Beucler, friends of the bride and groom, Jane Bailey and Beth Bierman, friends of the bride. The flowergirls were Elizabeth Beard, niece of the bride, and Cindy Hutton, niece of the groom.

Lin Browder, father of the groom, was best man. The ushers were Gordon Dozier, cousin of the groom, Mike Henson, friend of the bride and groom, Steve Adkins, friend of the groom, Dan Tubbs, Steve Mannix, and Victor Allen de, friends of the bride and groom. The ring bearer was Stephen Beard, nephew of the bride. The greeter was Joshua Beard, nephew of the bride. The guestbook attendant was Angela Nelson, friend of the bride.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Wymer of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Northside High School, Roanoke, and Virginia Tech, Blacksburg. She is employed by Architectural Graphics, Inc.

The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Browder Jr. of Norfolk. He is a graduate of Old Dominion University, Norfolk, and is employed by C. L. Browder Custom Homes.

The newlyweds will live in Virginia Beach, Va.

Goodykoontz-Barefoot

Susan Stevens Barefoot and William Oakey Goodykoontz Jr. were married November 16, 1996, in St. Jude Catholic Church, Radford, Va. The Rev. James Grealish officiated. A reception was held at Damon's Clubhouse following the ceremony.

The maid of honor was Deborah Lynn Minor. Bridesmaids were Gabrielle Marie Madeline Brock, Mary Ann Brock, Mary Madeline Gilmore, Mary Susanna Gilmore, Susanna Elizabeth Gilmore, Anne Bridget Gilmore, Lucy Grace Gilmore, and Maura Saavedra.

Matthew Ripley Brock was ring- bearer.

The best man was Michael Joseph Barta. Groomsmen were Andrew Dixon Barefoot, Clement J. Brock, Matthew David Brock, Ronald Wayne Gilmore, Jonathan Christopher Alexander Healey, Abraham King Kwok, Jonathan Mark Sidener, and Ralph Kim Underwood.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Sherwood Barefoot of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Dr. Betsy Barefoot of Columbia, S.C. She is a graduate of Salem College and is an epidemiologist for the Arizona Department of Health Services . The groom is the son of Mary Susan Goodykoontz of Radford, and the late William Oakey Goodykoontz. He is a graduate of James Madison University and is a columnist for the Arizona Republic newspaper in Phoenix.

After honeymooning in Puerto Vallarta, the couple will continue to reside in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Hodges-Martin

Amy Suzanne Martin and Christopher Neil Hodges were married on March 1, 1997, at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church. The Reverend William Anthony Layman officiated

The reception was held at the Vinton War Memorial. The couple will honeymoon in the Bahamas and at Disney World. They will reside at their home in Roanoke when they return.

Jackson-Sinram

Julia Joy Jackson and Christopher Ryan Sinram are engaged and plan to be married in October 1997.

Julia is the daughter of Janet and Douglas Rice of Roanoke, and Kevin Jackson of Germany.

Chris is the son of Vivian Sinram of Smith Mountain Lake, and the late Arthur Sinram.

Jones-Sale

Lisa Marie Sale and William Thomas Jones were married in a private ceremony on February 24, 1997 in Staunton, Va. Lisa is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sale of Roanoke. Timmy is the son of Mrs. Sarah F. Jones and the late Mr. Fred L. Jones of Staunton. Lisa and Timmy are looking forward to a long and happy life together and want family and friends to share in their joy. The couple will reside in Staunton.

Orr-Neel

On February 14, 1997 at 6:00 p.m., Angela Darlene Neel and Montie R. Orr, Jr. were united in marriage at the home of the groom's parents. The ceremony was officiated by Dr. Jordahl.

A wedding reception for family and friends was held at The Patrick Henry Hotel, a downtown Roanoke landmark, in celebration of their marriage as these best friends join together as one to walk down life's many paths hand in hand.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Neel. The maid of honor was Suzette Mays, best friend of the bride. The best man was Montie R. Orr, Sr., father of the groom. The flower girl was Lauren Orr, niece of the groom.

The bride wore an ivory satin gown, covered with pearls and lace. She carried a beautiful silk flower arrangement of ivory and burgundy flowers with ivy and highlighted with gold ribbons and ivory pearl streams.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Montie R. Orr, Sr., of Roanoke; and grandson of Mrs. Ruby Orr of Jonesville, Va. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Neel of Vinton, Va.

A special reading and song was dedicated to her mother and father, who have always been ``The Wind Beneath My Wings'', added a very sentimental touch to a wonderful occasion.

Many thanks are in order for some very special people, as this occasion could not have been held with the elegance and style it was presented. Pam Dwier, of Forever Yours, for all of the beautiful flower arrangements and the wedding cakes. Nikkie Morgan, who was a tremendous help with the wedding direction and every last detail to perfection, at the reception. Arleen Powers, with the Patrick Henry Hotel, for the detailed attention she personally added.

Once again, this wonderful occasion was all to the thanks of these lovely women.

A special thank you to the parents of the bride and groom, for their love and continued support.

After a honeymoon to the Gulf of Mexico, the couple will reside in Roanoke.

Pollard-Ramsey

Leigh Walker Ramsey and Jason Christopher Pollard were married March 1, 1997 in Christ Lutheran Church, Roanoke, with Rev. Mark William Radecke officiating. The reception was held in Fitzpatrick Hall at the Jefferson Center.

The maid of honor was Tracy George, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Katherine Luedke, sister of the bride, Julie Cirmo, Karen Joyce, Deborah Lennon, and Kimberly Weddle. Flowergirls were Logan Donovan, cousin of the bride, and Payton Weddle.

The best man was William Earle Spruill, Jr., uncle of the groom. Ushers were Jason Ramsey, brother of the bride, Matthew Anderson, Scott Hamblin, Eric Schenkel, and Michael Anderson. The ringbearer was Christopher Pollard, cousin of the groom. The guestbook was attended by Brandy Underwood.

The bride wore an elegant white satin gown inlaid with tiny pearls and sculptured sleeves, with a long train. She carried a spray of red and white roses surrounded by daisies and baby's breath.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe W. Ramsey and Ms. Carol Ramsey of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Radford University, and is employed by the U.S. Air Force.

The groom is the son of Ms. Alison Pollard of Winter Haven, Fla. He attends Va. Western Community College and is employed by Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea.

The newlyweds will live in Wichita Falls, Texas, after a wedding trip to Mayan Corridor, Mexico.

Prillaman-LaVan

Kathryn Bee LaVan and Grayson Bishop Prillaman were married on February 1, 1997, at St. John's Episcopal Church. The Reverend Thomas P. O'Dell performed the 7:00 p.m. ceremony. A reception was held at the Shenandoah Club.

Erin LaVan Fagan, sister of the bride, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Stephanie Chapman Griggs Besch and Anne Garrett Dellefiel d of Alexandria, Virginia; Courtney Anne Kuehl, of Sister Bay, Wisconsin; Joanna-Danielle Tsukayama, of Arlington, Virginia; Cynthia Grace Hubbard of Brentwood, Tennessee; and Elizabeth Blackburn Prillaman, sister of the groom, of San Francisco, California.

The best man was the groom's father, Alton Bishop Prillaman. Groomsmen were John Kemper Prillaman, brother of the groom and Robert Parker Fralin, of Roanoke, Virginia; James Patrick Brown and Michael Scott Allison, of Salem, Virginia; Nelson Chandler Bolling, of San Francisco, California; and Christopher Williams Stevens of Richmond, Virginia.

The readers were Ray Evan LaVan, III, brother of the bride, of Naples, Florida and Richard Joseph Bell of Alexandria, Virginia. Flag carriers were Robert Andrew Jamison of Roanoke, Virginia and Cory Rand Allen of Jupiter, Florida. John Blackburg Kemper, III, cousin of the groom, of Annandale, Virginia, was the crucifer.

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Evan LaVan, Jr., of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and the late Penelope West LaVan, is a graduate of Roanoke College and is attending graduate school at Virginia Tech.

The groom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Alton Bishop Prillaman of Roanoke, Virginia and the grandson of Mrs. John Blackburn Kemper of Port Republic, Virginia and Mrs. Edgar Dewey Prillaman of Roanoke, Virginia. A graduate of Roanoke College, he is a stockbroker with J. C. Bradford & Co.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Aruba and now reside in Roanoke, Virginia.

Thompson-Martin

Candy Suzanne Martin and Christopher Britt Thompson were married February 14, 1997 at the Chapel in the Valley, Gatlinburg, Tenn.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Donna Martin of Radford. Grandparents are Donald and Dorothy Gibson of Radford, and Daniel and the late Dorothy Martin of Pulaski. Her great-grandmother is Margaret Gibson of Radford.

The groom is the son of Emilie Lyckman of Radford, and Robert Thompson of Mt. Airy, N.C. Grandparents are Rebecca Thompson of Radford, and William Thompson of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Long Beach, N.C., and now reside in Radford.
