Mulch time

When you see those little sprigs of green pushing aside winter's brown, it's time to refresh the mulch that compressed in your garden during the winter. It'll help keep down the weeds.

Pick up mixed wood mulch, free to Roanoke residents, at the corner of Courtland Avenue and Carver Road (behind the civic center Pizza Hut) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
