CHECK OUT COMET HALE-BOPP ON NASA'S WEB SITE

Comet Hale-Bopp, which was pictured on Wednesday's front page, can be explored in detail on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's new Web site.

The site provides photographs of the comet, a map of its whereabouts in the sky at particular times, general information about it and links to other sites on the Web where even more information can be found.

You can even chart Hale-Bopp's movements through the constellations.

Also on the site are photos of a recent total solar eclipse over China.

Furthermore, you can search such general areas as: space science, a photo gallery, planet Earth, fun and games, spaceflight, education and aeronautics.

NAACP boycott

Interested in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's boycott of major U.S. hotel chains, including Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center operator Doubletree Corp.? You can find more information on the NAACP's Web site. The site is underwritten by Bell Atlantic Corp., which has provided a $15,000 grant to have a Web master maintain the site for a year.

The site's home page includes an NAACP statement on police brutality, the hotel ratings and a page on the association's high tech and job fair. A variety of other information about the association can be found there.

Religious sites

Bible news, a new Web site that re-enacts Biblical events in a broadcast news format, claims that a search would reveal 400,000 religion-related sites on the World Wide Web. It claims its own site is among the most entertaining and informative. The site offers free samples but does charge to access the bulk of its services.
