On Wednesday, Radford City Council reviewed funding requests for the 1997-98 fiscal year from the New River Valley Agency on Aging, New River Community Action, the New River Valley Planning District Commission and the New River Juvenile Detention Home, among others. The work session was one of a series as council continues its review of budget proposals.

The Radford council's next budget work session will be at 7 p.m. Monday at council chambers, 619 Second St. Council will review the needs of two social service agencies, the Chamber of Commerce, the commission on Arts and Events, and the Recreation Department. But most of the meeting will focus on the budget for Radford City Schools. Members of the School Board will be on hand by 8 p.m. to discuss their proposed budget.
