The Roanoke city administration will open a "hot line" today for residents who have questions about a pamphlet distributed by the Roanoke Professional Firefighters Association.
The Fire Safety Hotline will accept calls from 1 to 4 p.m. at 853-2550.
The pamphlet concerns the city's purchase of a combination "quint" fire truck - a ladder truck that can also pump water. City Council will decide whether to buy the trucks Monday afternoon.
In an effort to kill the purchase, off-duty firefighters began distributing the pamphlets this week. They're titled: "Roanoke! Your Public Safety Is in Jeopardy!"
Michelle Bono, a city spokeswoman, called the pamphlet "very misleading."
