The 13th annual Wytheville Chautauqua Creative Writing Contest is now open to amateur writers of short stories, essays and poems.
Two typed double-spaced copies of each work should be mailed to Dan Jones, Chair, Chautauqua Creative Writing Contest, Wytheville Community College, 1000 E. Main St., Wytheville, Va. 24382, by April 25. Awards will be given during the Chautauqua Festival on June 20. Entry fees are $5 for adult entries and $2 for students.
Prizes will be offered in each of the three categories as follows: adult, $75, $50 and $25; grades 10-12, $25, $15 and $10, and grades 6-9, $15, $10 and $5. Contestants are limited to one previously unpublished entry per category.
Each entry should have a removable title page with the name, address, age group and category being entered. The writer's name should appear nowhere else. Manuscripts will not be returned.
