A Bedford County family escaped injury Sunday when fire did about $200,000 damage to their home.
Ricky Suddeath and his family were outside Sunday afternoon when a neighbor saw smoke coming from the upper level of their two-story house on Virginia 702.
Dave Nichols, Bedford County's public service director, said the fire started in an attic fan on an upstairs heat pump.
The whole top floor will have to be rebuilt, Nichols said.
