A man wearing a mask and a hooded jacket escaped early Wednesday morning with an undetermined amount of money from a convenience store on U.S. 221 in Forest.
Bedford County Sheriff officials said a man entered the Quik-E Food Store about 1:48 a.m. and threatened to kill the two female clerks if they didn't give him money from the cash register.
The suspect had one hand in his pocket and covered the other hand with his jacket. He then fled on foot. A tracking dog followed the suspect's scent to the parking lot at a nearby industrial park, where police suspected he had a vehicle.
Police said although the clerks didn't see the suspect's face, he was recorded on video, and he had a distinctive voice.
