EASTER SERVICES

LUTHERAN

St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4909 North Lake Drive, will have Holy Communion at 7:30 tonight and strip the altar. A Good Friday service is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. St. Phillip Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran congregations will join St. Paul Lutheran in an Easter vigil service Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Easter Sunday service will be at 10 a.m.

St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church will present a dramatization of the Last Supper tonight at 6:30. Special music will be provided by the St. John Band. A worship service with Holy Communion will follow at 7:30. Good Friday services will be held at noon and 7:30 p.m. An Easter vigil is planned for Saturday at 9 p.m. Easter Sunday services are at 8:15 and 11 a.m.

Glade Creek Lutheran Church, 180 Webster Road, Blue Ridge, will be open all day Good Friday for personal prayer and reflection. Members will be present for consultation if needed.

CHURCH OF GOD

First Church of God, 5008 Hildebrand Road N.W., is offering a Passover meal tonight. Men and women will then separate to participate in the rite of foot washing. A crucifixion re-enactment will be on display Friday between 7 and 9 p.m. The Easter pageant "He's Alive," combined with the morning worship service, will begin at 10:30.

Penn Forest Church of God, 4429 Buck Mountain Road, will hold the Easter musical "The Overcomer" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Sunday. For further information, call 774-7711.

PRESBYTERIAN

West End Presbyterian Church, 1200 Campbell Ave. S.W., will open its sanctuary through Sunday for individual prayer and meditation. A visual display depicting the events of Holy Week will be featured, along with suggested prayers and biblical readings. A Maundy Thursday service will be held at 7 p.m., and a Good Friday service at noon.

First Presbyterian Church, 2101 S. Jefferson St., plans a traditional Tenebrae service tonight at 7:30. Chapel will be open on Good Friday between noon and 3 p.m. for prayer and meditation. Easter service is scheduled at 11 a.m.

BAPTIST

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 6262 Country Club Road, Troutville, plans a potluck dinner at 6:30 Friday with a Holy Communion service following at 7:30. Easter Sunday worship will be at 11. A nursery will be provided.

Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1014 Norfolk Ave. S.W., will be host of a joint Good Friday celebration service with Morning Star Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Communion will be served. Easter services will be at 6 and 10:45 a.m.

Green Ridge Baptist Church, 3321 Green Ridge Road N.W., plans an Easter service at 11 a.m. A drama and praise performance will be presented by the adult choir, with music from "I Stand in Awe" by David Clydesdale.

METHODIST

Bonsack United Methodist Church, 4493 Bonsack Road, has scheduled a Maundy Thursday service and Holy Communion at 6:30 tonight. A Tenebrae "Service of Shadows" is planned for Good Friday at 7:30 p.m. Easter Sunday services will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

Lawrence Memorial United Methodist Church, 5207 Britaney Road N.E., plans a Maundy Thursday Holy Communion service tonight at 7. Easter service is at 10:30 a.m.

BRETHREN

Peters Creek Church of the Brethren, 5333 Cove Road N.W., will observe a Love Feast at 7 tonight, including foot washing, the agape meal and Communion. A Tenebrae service will be held on Good Friday at 7 p.m. Casual attire is welcome. The Chancel Choir will present the cantata: "The Triumphs of His Grace" at the 11:30 worship service Sunday.

CATHOLIC

St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 631 N. Jefferson St., is recognizing Holy Thursday with a Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7:30 p.m. Good Friday services will be at 3 and 7:30 p.m. An Easter vigil and Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled for Holy Saturday at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday Masses will be at 8 and 10 a.m. and noon.

NONDENOMINATIONAL

A Southeast Community Good Friday Service will be held at Belmont United Methodist Church, 806 Jamison Ave. S.E., at noon and is sponsored by Southeast Roanoke Christian Partnership. The following organizations will be participating: Belmont Christian Church, Ninth Street Church of the Brethren, Waverly Place Baptist Church, Belmont Presbyterian Church, the Rescue Mission of Roanoke and the Presbyterian Community Center.
