Second-ranked Virginia raced to a 18-goal halftime lead and trounced VMI 31-4 in a men's lacrosse match Tuesday at Alumni Memorial Field in Lexington.
The Cavaliers outshot the Keydets 65-13 in improving to 6-2.
UVa got four-goal efforts from Doug Knight, Mark Murphy and David Bruce. Murphy also registered four assists.
VMI was led by Rob Worrell, who had two goals and an assist.

Radford men buried: Bob Hanna and James Mollica each posted their first career hat tricks as fourth-ranked Maryland crushed Radford 21-2 in College Park, Md.
The 19-goal margin of victory was Maryland's biggest since it whipped the Highlanders 26-3 in 1995.
W&L women rule: Washington and Lee won its seventh consecutive game, downing Frostburg State 10-5 in Lexington.
Lorraine Taurassi paced W&L (10-1) with with three goals. Erika Snyder had two assists, making her the all-time assists leader at W&L, passing Lisa Downing (1990-93). Laura Hemmings had three goals for Frostburg State (1-5).

W&L ties school record|
Washington and Lee tied an 85-year-old record for runs in a game by routing Eastern Mennonite 25-11 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game.
The 25 runs tied the record set in a 25-0 victory over William and Mary in 1910 and tied in 1912 in a 25-0 win over Western Maryland.
Sophomore first baseman Patrick Hall hit a pair of three-run homers to highlight a 28-hit attack by W&L (7-9 overall, 3-3 overall). Freshman Christian Bathceller (Patrick County) had five hits and five RBI. His 28 RBI tie the school record for RBI in season with 28 in just 16 games.
Hokies hold on: The Hokies nearly blew a seven-run lead before holding on to outlast Marshall 14-10 in Huntington, W.Va.
Matt Reynolds (William Byrd) had three hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in four runs for Virginia Tech (15-14). Chad Foutz (Franklin County) went 4-for-7 and scored three runs.
The Hokies led 12-5 before Marshall (4-24) erupted for five runs in the seventh inning.
Radford wins on road: Radford used a four-run fifth inning to take the lead for good and beat Appalachian State 8-5 in Boone, N.C.
Kelly Dampeer had a two-run double for Radford (13-18). Jim Thomas added a pinch-hit homer as Radford dealt ASU its 22nd loss in 32 games.
Ferrum sweeps: The Panthers took two games at Bluefield College, winning 6-4 and 9-7.
Brian Goodrich's two hits and two RBI paced Ferrum (19-3) in the first game, while Todd Cunningham and Patrick Muncher had three hits apiece in the nightcap.

Tech splits with Liberty|
Freshman pitcher Allison Weist threw a two-hitter and freshman third baseman Kara Krumhardt ripped a three-run double as Virginia Tech (13-19) ended its losing ways with a 5-1 victory over Liberty in the first game of a doubleheader in Blacksburg.
Liberty bounced back to earn a split, winning the second game 6-2 behind Leslie Inge's four-hitter.
Roanoke loses pair: Bridgewater swept an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader from visiting Roanoke, 6-0 and 7-3. Roanoke fell to 4-14 overall and 2-6 in the league.
