Expert help at the Home Show
If you own a home or are thinking about making the most expensive purchase of your life, hopefully you are wise enough to know how little you know. Get help from the experts at the ``Better Living Expo '97 - The Home Show'' at the Salem Civic Center, Friday through Sunday.
More than 200 displays of products and services, combined with information about financing and seminars (20 to 30 minutes long) covering everything from landscaping to electronics to what's hot in bathtubs, will load you up with handy information whether you're in this for the first time or thinking about making some changes.
Call for hours, 375-3004.
Crafts fair wares at Tech
If you go to the Brush Mountain Arts & Crafts Fair this weekend in Virginia Tech's Rector Fieldhouse, please don't say within earshot of the more than 100 artisans who will be displaying their handiwork, ``Oh, I can make that in a weekend.'' Most people can't, not this good, anyway.
The fair is open Friday through Sunday. For those who would rather be golfing or playing video games, entertainment and kids' activities will keep them out of your hair for a while.
Admission is $2; under 16 is free. Call 552-4909 for hours, etc.
Neil Simon play at VWCC
When you see a Neil Simon play, there's usually food for thought in between the laughs.
His Pulitzer Prize-winner, ``Lost In Yonkers,'' is on stage in Whitman Auditorium at Virginia Western Community College tonight through Sunday.
The play is about Bella, a child-woman, her tyrannical mother and her two young nephews who spend their summer dealing with the two very different personalities and their conflicts.
Admission is by donation. Call 857-7327 for times and details.
