THINGS TO DO

Gentlemen, start your engines

You know, studies may someday show that too much peace and quiet is potentially unhealthy. So, bring your earplugs to Victory Stadium Speedway (formerly known as the stadium hosting football and the flood of '85) Friday night at 8 for auto racing.

Various persuasions of stock cars will chase each other around the track, their tires squealing like the pot-bellied pigs local officials keep outlawing. Adult admission is $10; kids 10 and under are free. If you listen to the latest Metallica CD - with headphones on - played really loud you can start to condition your ears to the noise level.

This circular commotion will continue just about every Friday night during the warm months but call to make sure (366-6679) or visit mini Graceland around 8 and listen for the noise.
