A Virginia Tech graduate, who once held positions at New River and Wytheville community colleges, has been named president of Rappahannock Community College in Warsaw.
Norman H. Scott will replace John H. Upton, who retired last year after being charged in Michigan in the death of his wife. Upton pleaded guilty, but mentally ill, to manslaughter.
Scott is now president of Williamsburg Technical College in Kingstree, S.C., and will assume his new post June 1.
He received a bachelor's degree in history and a doctorate in vocational and technical education from Tech. He received his master's degree in instructional technology from East Tennessee State University.
In the early 1970s, Scott was coordinator of New River Community College's audio-visual services and its learning laboratory. In 1975, he moved to Wytheville Community College, where he served as director of learning resources and coordinator of developmental studies.
