BUSINESS MOVES TO ROANOKE

MIKE WHITESIDE and SUSIE FARISS WHITESIDE have moved their laser-cut window fashions business, Whiteside Designs, from Savannah, Ga., to Roanoke.

He is the chief executive officer of the company and she is the creative director.

Before starting Whiteside Designs in 1996, Mike Whiteside was a yacht captain and licensed yacht broker and Susie Whiteside, a Roanoke native, was a designer of boat interiors.

FOOD SERVICE

J. MATTHEW BULLINGTON has been appointed vice president and general manager of Texas Tavern Inc. in Roanoke.

Bullington, who is the fourth generation to work in the restaurant founded in 1930 by his great-grandfather, Issac N. Bullington, began his career at Texas Tavern in 1994.

The downtown restaurant is known for its chili, hot dogs and hamburgers.

HEALTH CARE

DEBRA S. WHITE has joined the outpatient treatment staff at Carilion Behavioral Health-Roanoke. A licensed professional counselor, White has more than 16 years of experience in marriage and family therapy, child sexual abuse, substance abuse therapy and adolescent skills training.

CAROL J. BeVILLE, a speech-language pathologist with Rehabilitation Services of Roanoke Inc., has been certified as an instructor of alaryngeal speech by the International Association of Laryngectomees.

HOSPITALITY

TOWNLEY AIDE has been appointed manager of public relations at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. The Roanoke native joined The Greenbrier in 1994 and has held several positions in the retail and front office departments.

INSURANCE

FREDA RAMEY has been promoted to assistant vice president of the Roanoke office of Accordia Mid-Atlantic insurance company.

LAW

THOMAS R. SCOTT JR., a partner in the Grundy law firm of Street, Street, Street, Scott & Bowman, has become a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He has been practicing law for 20 years.

MEDIA

BRENDA STEPHENSON and TRACIE McKENNEY have joined WFXR FOX 21/27 television station in Roanoke as account executives. Stephenson formerly worked for Signet Bank managing retail and commercial accounts. McKenney most recently was responsible for special-event marketing for the Salem Civic Center.

NONPROFITS

The board of directors for Family Service of Roanoke Valley has elected JAMES C. SEARS of Center in the Square as chairman for the coming year. Other new officers are WILLIAM E. SKEEN, Valley Bank, first vice chairman; SUSIE SIPOS, Sipos Marketing Services, second vice chairman; KIRK A. LUDWIG, Martin, Hopkins & Lemon, treasurer; BEVERLY B. LAMBERT, community volunteer, secretary; and DANIEL G. OAKEY, Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce, chairman-elect. New board members are LOGAN FORSYTH, Chas.
