BIXLER, Robert S., 74, of Bradenton, Fla., died Friday, April 4, 1997, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the beloved husband of the late Margie (Moni) (nee Herig), dear father of R. Jeffrey (Kathy) of Toledo, Ohio, Sherry Saunders (Dana) of Westlake, Ohio, R. Timothy of California, J. Michael (Diana) of North Olmsted, Ohio, J. Patrick (Jackie) of Blacksburg, Va., and E. Brian (Amy) of Florida; grandfather of Dana Jr. (Heather), Eric (Dana), and Kira Saunders, and Rob, Christie, David, Mark, Megan, John, Shannon, Jacob, Jacqueline, John, Erin, Devon, and Colin Bixler; brother of Kay McGorray and Rita Duffy. He was a World War II Navy veteran. COVERT, Cora Audra Camden, 80, of Brooksville, Fla., formerly of Lexington, Va., died Tuesday, April 8, 1997. Born December 1, 1916 in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late Hubert R. Camden and Anna Tolley Camden. Mrs. Covert was the widow of George Covert. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Wilhelm; and four brothers, Eugene Camd en, Hurbert Nelson Camden, Raymond Camden, and John W. Camden. GRAHAM, Pauline Barksdale, of Roanoke, formerly of Covington, died Monday, April 7, 1997. She was the wife of Mr. R. Lynn Graham. Pauline was born in Albermarle County, a daughter of the late James W. Barksd ale and Rosa Black Barksdale. Other than her husband, R. Lynn Graham, she is survived by three nephews, Wayne Barksdale, Clifton Forge, James Davis, Crozet and Arley Heironimus, Greenwood, S. C. Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by two brothers, Merritt Barksdale, Sidney Barksdale, and one sister, Mary Barksdale Heironimus. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 10, 1997, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Loving Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Chapman, assisted by the Rev. Walter B. Failes, officiating. HALSEY, Rev. Camet H., 62, of Volney, passed away Monday, April 7, 1997 at his home. He was born September 19, 1934 in Volney, Va. to Thomas C. Halsey and Nannie Suitt Halsey. He was a Baptist minister and a retired Postmaster of the Volney Post Office for many years and was a self-employed Barber. Surviving are his wife, Carolene Osborne Halsey, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jackie Phipps, Independence; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael David and Patty Halsey, Marion, James Edward and Sandy Halsey, Chilhowie; three grandchildren, Benjamin Bland Halsey, Marion, Dustin Wayne Phipps, Independence, Emily Elizabeth Halsey, Chilhowie; two stepgrandchildren, Whitney Marie Untiedt, Kristin Warren Untiedt, both of Marion; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Eva Campbell, Troutdale, Louise and Dean Adams, Piney Creek, N.C.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Rex and Grace Halsey, Independence, Tommy and Hazel Halsey, Rev. HILER, Richard Marlyn, 66, of Vinton, died Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at the VA Medical Center in Salem. He was a graduate of VPI with a degree in Business Administration. Mr. Hiler was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired to being a cattle farmer after he ran Dick Hiler's Sporting Goods in Vinton. He is survived by his wife, Polly Edmundson Hiler; one daughter, Kitty Gillespie, Vinton; three grandchildren, Valerie Gillespie, Sydney Gillespie, and Darby Gillespie, all of Vinton; two aunts, Mildred Ritter, West Virginia, Gerry Meador, Roanoke. KING, Janet J., 66, of Rural Retreat, daughter of the late Issac Greek and Jettie Huddle King, died Tuesday evening, April 8, 1997, in Wythe County Community Hospital. She was a graduate of Marion College and furthered her education in music at George Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. She taught music for many years, and also played the pipe organ for her church for 20 years. She had been employed by Governmental District Three in Wytheville for the past five years. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Fields, and two brothers, Arnold King and Ivan S. King. She is survived by a sister, Ruby K. Groseclose of Marion; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Everett C. and Nancy King of Martinsville, Etta Mae King of Burlington, N.C., and Nina King of Fort Worth, Texas; two nieces, Kathy G. Mabe and her husband, Gerald E. Mabe of Wytheville and Amy K. King of Raleigh, N.C., and two nephews, Larry King and Roger King, both of Burlington, N.C. Also surviving are two great-nieces, one great-nephew; two great-great-nieces, and many friends, students and neighbors. MACHERAS, George Peter, 75, of Lexington, died Monday, April 7, 1997, in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pa. Mr. Macheras was born on August 29, 1921, in Columbus, Ohio, and was the son of the late Peter George Macheras and Florence Giannakos Macheras. He was a member of the R.E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church, Lexington, and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Roanoke; past president of the Lexington Kiwanis Club, past president of the Lexington Golf & Country Club, past Master Mountain City Lodge #67 A.F. & A.M., member Royal Arch Chapter #44, Moomaw Commandery #27 Knights Templar, and a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Fifteenth Air Force with the 456th Bombardment Group in Southern Italy. He was a long-standing businessman in Lexington, and retired as owner of the Southern Inn Restaurant. Mr. Macheras is survived by his wife, Eve C. Macheras, Lexington; four sons, Peter G. Macheras, James G. Macheras, both of Richmond, Perry G. Macheras, Youngstown, Ohio, Alex G. MUSE, Webster, of Rocky Mount, entered into eternal life on Sunday, April 6, 1997 at Burrell Nursing Home in Roanoke, Va. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Holland Muse and was the son of the late Robert Lee Muse and E. Emma Street Muse. Born October 26, 1911 in Crane Creek, W. Va., he was an Assistant Pastor at New Design United Pentecostal Holiness Church of Rocky Mount, Va. He is survived by six sons and five daughters-in-law, James Wesley and Hazel, Billy and Brenda, Roy Lee and Judy, all of Rocky Mount, Bobby Lewis and Betty and William Theodore of Wirtz, Frederick Wayne and Loretta of Hampton; daughter Annette and James Walker, Richmond. He was retired from the Celanese Corporation with 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred Vest Stafford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Sharon Stafford of Fairfax, and Herbert and Marion Stafford of Cleveland, Tenn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Ann and Charlie Lyons of Dublin; a brother, Carl Stafford of Pearisburg; three sisters, Lucille Perdue and Myrtle Perdue of Pearisburg and Ernestine Parcell of Rich Creek; 11 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
