A 38-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in downtown Roanoke Monday while waiting to cross a street, police said Tuesday.
The Blacksburg woman told police she was at Campbell Avenue and Jefferson Street about 11:55 a.m. when a man approached her, grabbed her crotch and then walked away. She was not injured.
An officer found a man matching the victim's description in the bus terminal a few minutes later. Jimmy Wayne Brown, 28, gave his address as City Rescue Mission and was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery.
