Pianists from Latvia and China will be among the musicians competing at Radford University's 17th annual Bartok-Kabalevsky international Piano Competition Friday through Sunday.
The event includes the competition, special performances and a master class. About 70 pianists from around the world will compete for prizes of up to $5,000.
The competition finals are free and open to the public Saturday at 1:30 in Preston Hall.
Last year's winner Mauricio Nade will perform Friday at 8 p.m. in Preston Hall. This performance costs $3 for adults, $1 for children and is free with a Radford ID.
Famed concert pianist and competition judge Gyorgy Sandor will conduct a free master class Friday at 3:30 p.m. in Powell Choral Hall. He will perform Sunday at 2 p.m. in Preston Auditorium.
