Pottery classes for children
"Clay for Children," a six-week program sponsored by the Botetourt County Recreation Department for children 7 to 12, will begin April 22 and will continue on Tuesday afternoons through May 27.
Participants will make clay creatures, pinch and coil pots, masks and dinosaurs. The program costs $40 per child. For more information, contact the Recreation Department at 473-8326.
Family fun hot off the griddle
Pancakes by Kiwanis "all you can eat and then some" will be provided by the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke April 19 at Tanglewood Mall in front of Kroger. The event will run rain or shine from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will include auctions, magicians, clowns, face painting and other family entertainment. The cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children ages three to 10. Tickets are available at the Tanglewood Mall information center. For more information, call 366-0834.
Hospice seeks daytime volunteers
The Good Samaritan Hospice, an in-home program for patients with life-threatening illnesses, is seeking daytime volunteers available two to four hours a week. The next training program begins April 28. For more information, contact Katye Stuart Bane, director of volunteer services, at 776-0198.
Elm Avenue closed Saturday, Sunday
Elm Avenue Southwest between Franklin Road and Fourth Street will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday until 11 p.m. Sunday. The road will be closed for work on the Franklin Road/Elm Avenue intersection project. Detours will be in place. For more information, call 853-2625.
