The Pulaski County Board of Supervisors will start its 6:30 p.m. meeting Monday with a "conversation" on local government, as part of National County Government Week.
"The goal of the week is to focus citizens' concerns regarding their community so that county governments can be responsive," said board Chairman Joe Sheffey. He said people attending the session can have an "informal conversation" with board members on "concerns about county government and ideas that will have a positive impact on Pulaski County."
The balance of the meeting will be devoted to a board work session on the 1997-98 county budget. The session will be in the board's meeting room at the County Office Building. Also Monday, at 7 p.m., the county Public Service Authority board will meet in the same building in the first-floor conference room.
The Radford City Council will review progress on the Glencoe Museum project in a work session at 6:30 p.m. Monday. A public hearing will follow, at 7:30 p.m., on the city's proposed budget and the 3 percent real-estate tax increase needed to support it. Council meets at the Municipal Building, 619 Second St.
The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Monday on the third floor of the Montgomery County Courthouse in Christiansburg. Topics include the rezoning of two acres behind the Wilco Station at 3980 South Main St. near Blacksburg from agricultural to general business status.
Christiansburg Town Council will consider a request for a trash transfer station near the town's Market Place shopping center at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Council will first hear from the public and from the Planning Commission before making a decision. Council meets at the Municipal Building, 100 E. Main St.
