A Northwest Roanoke woman was in stable condition Saturday night after she was shot in the chest at her Pittsfield Avenue home.
The bullet passed through Eunice Sherffield's chest and exited her side, police said. Sherffield was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Police said Sherffield and her husband, John, had argued before the shooting, which occurred about 9:30 p.m.
John Sherffield was charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in a malicious wounding. He was being held without bond in the Roanoke City Jail.
