TEEN-AGER HURT IN 1-CAR WRECK

A Christiansburg teen-ager was seriously injured in a Tuesday afternoon accident on Den Hill Road.

Virginia State Police Trooper Joe Diamond said 16-year-old Michael Brizendine was listed in stable condition at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Brizendine was a passenger in a car driven by Bobby D. Davis, 18, of Blacksburg. Diamond said Davis entered a curve on Den Hill Road at an estimated 75 mph, ran off the road, struck a boulder and went airborne before the nose of the car plowed into a field.

The posted speed limit on the road is 55 mph.

Once the car hit the field, it rolled and Brizendine, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the car. Diamond said Brizendine suffered a broken arm and facial lacerations.

Lifeguard 10 flew Brizendine to Roanoke for treatment. Davis suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Diamond charged Davis with reckless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.
