The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders of Bedford will have a self-help group meeting for people with eating disorders and their families at 7 p.m. on April 24.

Melungeons lecture

N. Brent Kennedy, vice president for development and college relations at Clinch Valley College, will speak on "The Melungeons: The Resurrection of a Proud People" at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Roanoke.

Kennedy, a Melungeon himself, will discuss the mysterious origins - Turkish or Iberian - of this dark-skinned ethnic group of about 20,000 people concentrated in Southwest Virginia and parts of North Carolina and Tennessee.

The lecture is sponsored by the Roanoke Valley Historical Society and visitors are welcome.
