But rainy weather could lead to cancellation.
Virginia Tech's plan to take an aerial photo of 2,000 students arranged on the Drillfield into a giant "125" today is up in the air.
Weather may interfere with the photo, which is intended to commemorate Tech's 125th anniversary.
Today's forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a 30 percent chance of showers. Those conditions may be unsuitable for both the airborne photographer and the student models.
The university has asked student organizations to wear similar colors and form in groups on the Drillfield at around 4:15 p.m. The photo will be taken at 4:45 p.m.
University officials said a decision on going ahead with the event will be made early this afternoon.
If delayed, the photo will be rescheduled for the fall.
