BOTETOURT AT GREENFIELD LOOKING FOR BUSINESSES PROMOTIONAL STRATEGY DEVELOPED

Projects relying on an Interstate-81 corridor location are targeted.

Botetourt Center at Greenfield will be marketed in the same league as major corporate parks like Raleigh's Research Triangle Park and Richmond's Innsbrook, county officials said this week.

The county's economic development team and the Roanoke Valley Economic Development Partnership showed a promotional strategy this week for luring businesses to the mixed-use park that includes about 600 acres for industrial use and another 100 acres for offices.

The partnership said marketing will be aimed at "manufacturing projects that have a reliance on an Interstate-81 corridor location" and large office and service projects compatible with the Roanoke Valley's labor pool or that need a location in the Southeastern United States.

The plan is based around a promotional package that includes a brochure designed by partnership Executive Director Beth Doughty and a videotape of the current concept of the park. Internet web pages also will be developed.

The package will be sent to 201 industrial site consultants, and ultimately to 1,000 potential prospects for locating a company in the park.

Doughty and county officials are planning for at least two inquiries or proposals per month.
