CNB Holdings Inc., parent company of Community National Bank of Pulaski, announced a stock split Thursday. Shareholders will get five shares of stock for each four they own on May 1. The stock dividend will be paid May 30.

The Packett Group of Roanoke received a first-place award at the Third District American Advertising Awards competition last weekend in Raleigh, N.C.

The agency received the Addy for its four-color brochure about Center in the Square's endowment campaign, which also won the best in show award at the local competition. The brochure will compete nationally in the American Advertising Awards show June 17 in Kansas City, Mo.

Otter Creek Kennel on U.S. 221 at Forest has been sold to Elizabeth McKeever and Ellen Penny of Lynchburg and Sheri Healey of Yaphank, N.Y.

Friendship Manor said Thursday it has begun construction of a 24-unit independent living facility at its property on Hershberger Road.

The building, to be known as Wellington II, is the 39th structure at the retirement community's complex. It will bring its total accommodations to 1,030 units. Rental rates for the new two- and three-bedroom, two-bath apartments will be $725 to $875.
