Martelli gets new contract

St. Joseph's University rewarded head basketball coach Phil Martelli with a new four-year contract after he led the Hawks to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen last month.

Martelli, 41, has compiled a 45-20 record in his two seasons at the Philadelphia school.

The Hawks posted a 26-7 record this season, winning the Atlantic-10 regular season and conference tournament titles.

New nickname: Miami University decided on its new nickname as the Redskins are becoming the RedHawks.
