April is National Guard appreciation month. Locally, the mayors of Blacksburg and Christiansburg signed proclamations honoring Bravo Company First battalion, 116 Infantry Brigade, which has historically been called the Stonewall Brigade.
During April, the Virginia Army National Guard has launched a recruiting drive to sign up new members for the Christiansburg and Radford national guard units.
