Time is running out for visitors to the Wysor Observatory to catch a close-up of Comet Hale-Bopp through a telescope, but Rick Fisher said there are many other celestial sights that make good viewing on clear nights.
Fisher, who handles visits to the observatory at Dublin Elementary School on clear nights, said an astronomical telescope can show such cometary phenomena as how thin comet tails are. Stars can be seen through this one, using the telescope.
But there are advantages to viewing it simply through binoculars, he said, such as seeing the entire comet and tail in one field of vision.
Visits to Wysor Observatory can be arranged by calling Fisher at 731-0182.
