FALL KILLS YWCA, PARKS SUPPORTER

Mary French Rockefeller donated her Vermont home for a national park.

Mary French Rockefeller, who worked for years on behalf of the YWCA, died Thursday of injuries from a fall at her apartment.. She was 86.

She joined the Young Women's Christian Association's national board in 1951 and became a member of its Board of Trustees in 1988. In 1962 and 1963, she traveled 53,000 miles to report on the YWCA's efforts around the world.

She donated her family home and property in Woodstock, Vt., for a national historical park, which is not yet complete.

She was the granddaughter of 19th century railroad president and conservationist Frederick Billings. At 24, she married Laurence Rockefeller, the grandson of John D. Rockefeller, founder of the Standard Oil Co.
