The Community Observer Corps is a coalition of community organizations that monitors Montgomery County's government boards. Following are their comments from March meetings. The observers were from the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County and the Sierra Club of Montgomery County:
MONTGOMERY COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD
PLUS
1. More than 200 residents have responded to the School Board search team's questionnaire on the type of person needed for the superintendent's position.
MINUS
1. The board spent 31/2 hours in closed sessions.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
PLUS
1. County personnel have been exceptionally cooperative when information is requested for research purposes by the League of Women Voters.
MINUS
1. During meetings, it is very difficult to hear reports or comments by the supervisors because of a faulty sound system.
MONITORING
1. The public needs to be clearly informed of problems that might occur in the development of the "smart" road, such as noise from machinery, ground water pollution, and the extensive space needed for the proposed cloverleaf.
