VIRGINIA GOLFERS DO IT AGAIN BEAT W.VA. 4TH STRAIGHT TIME

Paced by the dominance of its senior players, the Virginia squad wins annual team matches again.

The Virginians captured the Virginias-West Virginia golf team matches for the fourth straight year Sunday, 64-44.

Leading 41-31 after Saturday's four-ball and foursomes competition, the Virginians outscored the hosts 23-13 in Sunday's singles competition to win the competition for the fifth time overall.

David Brogan of Lexington was among the victorious Virginia players Sunday. Brogan whipped Evans Harbour 3-0.

Jake Allison of Roanoke and Keith Decker of Fieldale each provided 1 1/2 points for the Virginia squad, halving their matches with Steve Fox and Pat Carter, respectively.

The Virginia senior players dominated, scoring 291/2 out of a possible 36 points over the two-day competition.
