BEDFORD COUNTY GIRL KILLED IN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT BROTHER AND MOTHER BOTH HOSPITALIZED WITH INJURIES

Allan Fullen was driving when his family's car stalled and was hit by a pickup truck from behind.

An 11-year-old Bedford County girl died as a result of injuries she suffered in a Sunday afternoon car accident.

State Police investigators said Allan Fullen was pulling onto Virginia 24, near Virginia 886 in the Stewartsville area, when his family's car stalled.

Witnesses told investigators that a van switched lanes to avoid the Fullen vehicle but a pickup truck behind the van did not have chance to switch lanes, said Virginia State Trooper J.G. Blankenship.

The pickup truck struck the Fullens' car and pushed it off the road, Blankenship said.

Allison Brittany Fullen, a fifth-grader at Stewartsville Elementary School, was killed. Her brother, 8-year-old Keith Allan Fullen, was in the pediatrics intensive care unit at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital. Their mother, Kimberly, 32, was listed in stable condition at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Allan Fullen, 25, was treated and released from Roanoke Memorial.

The driver of the pickup, James Weaver, 39, of Moneta, was not injured.

No charges had been placed, pending a review by the Bedford County Commonwealth's Attorney's office.

Stewartsville Principal John Hicks said the school was seeking contributions to help with funeral expenses for Allison and hospital bills for her brother and mother.

Contributions may be sent to: Stewartsville Elementary School, for the Fullen Family, 1138 Wildcat Road, Goodview, Va. 24095.
