BARTLETT WITHDRAWS FROM S.C. JOB HUNT

Montgomery County's school superintendent won't be headed to the beach.

Herman Bartlett, who has led the school system for four years, was one of three candidates being considered by the Horry County, S.C., School Board. Bartlett said he withdrew his name from the system, which includes Myrtle Beach, after deciding he wasn't interested in the job.

A year ago, the Montgomery County School Board voted not to renew Bartlett's contract, which expires June 30. The board is currently reviewing and narrowing down candidate applications for his replacement.

Bartlett said he is still considering several school systems around the country and plans to take his time making his decision.
