Impaxx controversy

The owner of Impaxx Limited, a Blacksburg restaurant and nightclub, has been accused by several employees of trying to exclude blacks from her club. In protest, a majority of the 50-person staff has resigned or been fired this month. The owner has declined comment. For details, see today's front page.

Hokies indicted

A Montgomery County Circuit Court Grand Jury indicted two former Virginia Tech football players Wednesday on attempted sodomy and rape charges. Brian Edmonds and James Crawford will remain free on a $45,000 bond until their Sept. 8 jury trial. Edmonds was signed to a free-agent contract this week with an NFL team.
