Actor from "Dukes of Hazzard" headlines the festivities for the 42nd annual event in Vinton.
Fans of "The Dukes of Hazzard" will have two chances to see one of the old CBS television series' stars this weekend.
Tom Wopat, who portrayed the dark-haired Luke Duke, will be grand marshal of the 42nd annual Vinton Dogwood Festival Parade Saturday.
His appearance in Vinton follows the broadcast of a Dukes reunion movie Friday night (8-10 p.m. on WDBJ-Channel 7).
Wopat will spend the day in Vinton and sign autographs from 1:30-2:20 p.m. at the Vinton War Memorial. The parade starts on Gus Nicks Boulevard at 2:30 p.m. and ends at the war memorial to close out the four-day Vinton Dogwood Festival.
The festival, which started Wednesday, features a carnival at the Vinton Farmers' Market tonight and Friday from 6-9:30. Bands take to the market stage from 7-10 each evening.
Saturday's festival schedule is jam-packed. Bands will perform throughout the day on the market stage.
CMT Sporting Goods and Vinton Baptist Church's 5K run starts at 9 a.m. at the market. A Harley-Davidson show, new this year, kicks off at the same time at Woods Auto Service Center.
There will be an antique car show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Vinton Baptist and children's activities on the lawn of the library.
A fine arts and craft show will be held at the war memorial from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Whitney Musselwhite will be crowned Miss Vinton Dogwood Festival at noon at the farmers' market, with a reception afterward.
