The Fishburn Park Elementary School student council left its mark on the school April 15 as members unveiled a 4-foot by 8-foot montage of recyclables at a school assembly. The artwork, made of painted wood, egg crates, a hubcap, a jump-rope, crushed aluminum cans, fruit baskets and even a green slinky, will hang outside the school next to a previous council's work.
Fishburn, an environmental education magnet school, is also collecting aluminum cans and old telephone books to recycle. Friday is the last day to drop off phone books. Can collection is an ongoing project to raise money for the school's playground project, set to begin May 3. The playground equipment is made of recycled cans, tires and plastics.
To help the school reach its goal, bring your aluminum cans to Fishburn Park and leave them in front of the school.
