PORTSMOUTH MAN KILLED BY GUNFIRE NEAR NAVAL SHIPYARD

{LEAD} A 20-year-old man was killed by gunfire Tuesday at an apartment complex near the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Anthony M. Stevenson was shot several times at about 1:13 p.m. outside of an apartment building in the 600 block of 7th St.

{REST} Stevenson, of the 300 block of Hatton St., was taken to Portsmouth General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police were interviewing a suspect.
