Douglas B. Winslow, a sophomore at Woodberry Forest School and the son of Dr. and Mrs. Boyd H. Winslow of Norfolk, had a mathematics paper accepted for presentation before the Virginia Junior Academy of Science.
His paper, ``Symmetry Lines of Irregular Polygons,'' was one of 33 papers accepted statewide by the mathematics and statistics division of the academy. The VJAS met May 17-19 at James Madison University.
Susan R. Williams, a 17-year veteran of Norfolk Public Schools, was named Educational Office Professional of the Year by the Association of Educational Office Professionals on May 18. Williams has worked at Granby High School for 11 years, the last five as office manager.
Nathan Jordan, a student at Virginia Union University, has been named a Collegiate Scholastic All-American by the U.S. Achievement Academy. Jordan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Darryle E. Pollard Jr. of Norfolk, is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and a member Mount Gilead Baptist Church.
Chris Cobb, a junior at Maury High School, has been elected state president for the Lutheran Youth Organization. Cobb, the son of Dr. and Mrs. James G. Cobb and a member of Norfolk's First Lutheran Church, will serve as one of the Lutheran representatives to the national youth gathering in Atlanta this summer. Cobb will head the state organization for 1994-95.
Students from ECPI Computer Institute received the Student Chapter Programming Competition's first place award at the recent 1994 Data Processing Management Association Region 18 Computer Expo and Conference held in Greensboro, N.C., recently. The students competed against teams from six states.
