{LEAD} When are the people in this city going to wake up and smell the coffee? What is wrong with a few memorial markers - white crosses bearing names of motorists who died on Shore Drive in Virginia Beach?

Are they as distracting as some of the unsightly signs, advertisements and billboards that litter the roadways and highways?

{REST} Who are the people that oppose these memorials? The same people whose election signs still litter the area how many days after the election?
