Mr. Griggs was retired from the U.S. Postal Service with over 30 years of service in the Virginia Beach Post Office. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk. He was the son of the late William and Odessa Griggs.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Tracy Midgett Griggs; a daughter, Tammy L. Yeakel, and a son-in-law, Eric S. Yeakel, both of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Norfolk with Dr. Bob Reccord officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. in Manteo Cemetery, Manteo, N.C. After the service, the family will gather at the home of Alan and Betty Mann. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and at all other times at the home of the daughter, 4801 Haymarket Drive, Virginia Beach. Twiford Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake, is handling arrangements.
