Mr. Parsons, a native of Portsmouth, was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 31, after 32 years. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Chesapeake, Moose Lodge (NU)898 and was a volunteer for Maryview Medical Center.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Frances Creecy Parsons; three sisters, Virginia P. Gould of Norfolk, Margaret P. Godfrey of York, Pa., and Jane P. Parrish of Richmond; and three grandsons, Curtis, Ernest and Darryl.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Scott Riner. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
